If you are coming to see the thrilling and exciting Dunkirk Lake Shore Air Show 2017 this Saturday and/or Sunday (July 1st & 2nd) there is parking available at SUNY FREDONIA College off of Central Ave Entrance. Take 1st right to first two parking lots. They are marked for Air Show Parking. There is also parking at Chautauqua County Fairgrounds (REAR LOT). Shuttle Buses will be available both days from Noon until evening. Visit the Dunkirk Boardwalk or some of the restaurants available locally and take a nice walk along the waterfront area after the Air Show. Welcome to DKNY. Press Release

The City of Dunkirk Public Works Department announces that brush pickup will begin on Monday, July 3rd in District A. District B will be picked up the week of July 10th, District C will be picked up the week of July 17th and District D will be picked up the week of July 24th.

Brush must be at the curb by 7:30 am on the Monday of the respective collection week but no earlier than the previous Saturday. City crews will collect each area only once. Brush placed at the curb after the crews pass by will not be collected and will be ticketed as a violation of the City Code and property owners will be prosecuted. Brush should be bundled with string or twine no more than 4’ long, diameter of no more than 18” and shall weigh no more than 65 pounds. Bundles should be placed between the sidewalk and curb but should not be placed near any posts, trees, water or sewer boxes, etc. which could be damaged during removal operations. Brush placed on City property other than the area fronting the respective residential property will be ticketed.

City residents may also drop brush at the Public Works facility on Lucas Avenue. Please refer to the 2017 Curbside Collection Schedule for further information.

Dunkirk Music on the Pier – June 15th – PSA

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a public service announcement for Dunkirk’s MUSIC ON THE PIER-Summer Concert Series 2017! Tomorrow IF IT RAINS, (and they are calling for rain) the huge Band Stage will be moved to the City Lot between the Clarion Hotel and Tim Horton’s (on the milled area near the Lake railing) so that we don’t have to cancel the HUGE SHOW with The Tragically Hip Tribute: STRICTLY HIP! We have been inundated with calls and this seems like the most logical solution so that we don’t have to cancel the Show altogether! “The Show must go on”….C’ya there 2mro with THE RISING playing at 5:25pm and then “THE HIP” at 6:30pm or so until dusk! There are tents already up which will hold thousands of people under cover should it rain and the stage is also covered so that we can all still enjoy the great show even if….it rains! Come join us! Food vendors will also be there! Again appearing tomorrow is THE RISING at 5:25pm followed by STRICTLY HIP: The Tragically Hip Tribute at 6:30pm until dusk! Great Lakes Experience

The Great Lakes Experience Festival will be in Dunkirk on Saturday June 17th from 11am to 5pm at the lot between the Clarion Hotel and Tim Hortons on Lakeshore Drive. There will be food vendors and over 40 exhibitors! Parking will be available across from the GLE Festival. There will be a patrolman escorting spectators across Route 5 to the GLE Festival. Parking and Police Crossing Guard are sponsored by Jim Nichols Hometown Service! GLE is sponsored by City of Dunkirk, NCCF, Dunkirk Observer, Nestle Purina, Lake Erie Management Commission, and Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club. Come join us!
