Recreation Attendant

The City of Dunkirk is seeking part-time Recreation Attendants.  Recreation attendants will be working at the Recreation Center at the Fairgrounds, as well as working on all Recreation and Youth related activities.  Applications are available in the Personnel Department in the basement of City Hall.  Completed applications should be submitted to the Recreation Department, 338 Central Ave, Suite 210, or dropped off at the Clerk’s office at 3pm on Friday, December 13.  Call 366-9886 for any questions.

Jenna’s 4th Street Cafe wins inaugural Flag Football Championship

Jenna’s 4th Street Cafe capped off an undefeated season by beating Team Fresh on the last play of the game, 33-28.  Derrick Honiker threw a 10 yard touchdown pass to Frankie Beras for the win.  Team Fresh took the lead 40 seconds earlier with a touchdown pass from Ryan Thompson, and a PAT pass to Joe Jagoda to take the lead 28-27.

Honiker finished with 4 touchdown passes and 1 run.  Thompson had 3 touchdown passes in the loss.  Eddie Marshall had two touchdowns-one reception and one on a kickoff.

Railroad Construction

Railroad crews will be making repairs to the Middle Road (Chautauqua Route No. 82) railroad crossing located in the City of Dunkirk.  Middle Road will be closed to all traffic at the CSX railroad crossing beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2013 until 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2013.  A detour will be posted and shall remain in effect until said detour sign are removed.

Flag Football

Jenna’s Cafe scored with under 10 seconds to go to avoid the upset Saturday at Karl Hoeppner Field.  On a fourth and goal from the 1, Derrick Honiker threw a touchdown pass to beat LHDC 37-36.

Team Fresh beat the First Ward Falcons 48-35 in a rematch from last week.  Team Fresh had two “pick-sixes” and Ryan Thompson had 4 touchdown passes.

This sets up the Championship game this coming Saturday at 10am-Jenna’s Cafe vs Team Fresh.

Flag Football Scores

The First Ward Falcons beat Team Fresh 20-13 to share the regular season championship with Jenna’s Fourth Street Cafe (Jenna’s gets first seed in playoffs via tie-breaker).

In the opening round of the playoffs, LHDC beat Those Guys 45-20 and will now play #1 seed-Jenna’s Cafe Saturday morning at 10am.  The First Ward Falcons will play Team Fresh in a rematch at 1130am.
