City seeks participants for Small Business Saturday Event

For Immediate Release

October 18, 2016

The City of Dunkirk’s Planning & Development Department is seeking local businesses who are interested in participating in a Small Business Saturday Event that will be held November 26th, 2016. Small Business Saturday is an American shopping holiday held the Saturday after Thanksgiving that encourages shoppers to patronize local brick and mortar companies. Businesses often have “Black Friday-like” sales to draw shoppers into their stores. Customers can finish up their shopping list while getting great deals and supporting our local economy.

Registered businesses will be included in free advertising developed by the City – including flyers, signs, and maps that will be posted in the newspaper, online, and distributed during the event. Those that wish to be included in the advertisements need to contact Christina Lincoln, Community Development Planner, at 366-9878 or clincoln@cityofdunkirk.com to register by November 18th. The application can also be downloaded electronically at http://www.dunkirktoday.com-offices/planning-and-development.

To kick off the holiday season local businesses are also encouraged to decorate their storefronts for this weekend event. Shoppers will be voting for the ‘Best Decorated Storefront’.
