Mayor Rosas makes water donation to residents of Flint, Michigan

The Dunkirk Labor Council will be making one more collection on Wednesday March 9, 2016 from 6-9 p.m at the Dunkirk Boardwalk. Monetary donations will also be taken at this time. Mayor Rosas would like to ask Dunkirk to PLEASE DONATE a case or two of spring/purified water, or a monetary donation. Thanks for your anticipated cooperation!

Governor Cuomo Announces Major Expansion of Athenex, Creating 1,400 Jobs in Western NY

Governer Andrew Cuomo was in Dunkirk today to make a major economic development announcement. Athenex (formerly Kinex) to invest $1.62 billion in drug discovery and advanced manufacturing partnership, creating 900 jobs in Dunkirk and 500 jobs in Buffalo over the next ten years

NY State is investing $225 million to support the Buffalo Medical Innovation and Commercialization Hub and help create new opportunities for the region

City of Dunkirk Department of Public Works reminds residents that there will be a curbside recycling pickup on Monday, January 11.

Recycling calendars for 2016 will be available soon.

Rubbish Pickup

City of Dunkirk residents who usually put their garbage out for Friday pickup will have their pickup on Saturday, January 2, 2016, instead of January 1, 2016, in observance of New Year’s Day.


Recycling calendars for 2016 and 2017 are still to be determined, based on on-going changes by vendors available to accept the City’s recycled material. The calendars should be determined soon, so they can be printed and distributed early in 2016.


There is no recycling pickup scheduled until Monday, January 11, 2016, but the City’s drop-off recycling center on Lucas Avenue is open work days from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Rubbish-Christmas Week

Dunkirk City Hall will be closed on Thursday and Friday, December 24 and 25 in observance of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

 Rubbish in the Thursday collection zone will be picked up on Thursday as usual and rubbish in the Friday collection zone will be picked up on Saturday.
