The basic objective of the City of Dunkirk Housing Rehabilitation Program is to improve the housing of income eligible persons in a manner that conserves existing housing stock and contributes to neighborhood revitalization and preservation.

This program is administered by the City of Dunkirk Department of Development. The Housing Rehabilitation Program is funded by Federal grant funds awarded to the City of Dunkirk by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development through their Community Development Block Grant Program.

Grants are available for up to 100% of eligible rehabilitation expenses not to exceed $5000 for standard repairs and $7500 for roof replacements.  Amounts in excess of these figures will generally not be considered unless an emergent / special circumstance can be shown.  Grants are to be utilized for one eligible project per year and projects cannot be combined.
