City of Dunkirk Announces Partnership with Development Group headed by Cliffstar Corporation and Krog Corp.

Dunkirk, NY - April 8, 2009

The City of Dunkirk is pleased to announce the designation of Cliffstar Corporation and Krog Corporation as their partner in attempting to secure $2.5 million in RESTORE NY Funding for the Roberts Road Redevelopment Project.  The City received multiple responses from its Request for Proposals Eligible for RESTORE NY funding, and determined through a comprehensive review process that the project presented by Cliffstar/Krog would provide a tremendous economic development opportunity. Mayor Frey stated "It is very exciting to see a partnership between one of our true leaders in local industry Cliffstar and a widely respected and tremendously skilled developer, Krog Corp. partnering for such a tremendous project within the City of Dunkirk."

The Roberts Road Redevelopment Project is a proposed manufacturing, warehousing and distribution center to be built upon the approximately 27 acres that was formerly the site of Roblin Steel, Alumax Extrusions and Edgewood Warehouse. According to City Development Director Kory Ahlstrom "Credit for this project getting to this point can be attributed to a team effort of many local agencies including City Development Staff, County IDA, Empire State Development Staff, in addition to many local elected leaders including Senator Cathy Young, Assemblyman William Parment, County Executive Greg Edwards, the City's County Legislature Representatives and of course the Mayor who has worked tirelessly on this project.  The most exciting aspect of this project from my perspective is that this team is committed to seeing this project through the over the final round of hurdles to completion." 

The RESTORE NY program is a competitive grant process which began in March with a final application due in early May.  According to grant documents "The goal of RESTORE NY is to revitalize urban centers.  It is anticipated that upon completion, the projects funded by RESTORE NY grants will attract individuals, families, industry and commercial enterprises to the municipality.  It is further anticipated that the improved community and business climate will result in an increased tax base thereby improving municipal finances and the wherewithal to further grow the municipality's tax and resource base and lessen its dependence on state aid."  A public meeting will be held on April 14th at 5pm at the Chadwick Bay Lofts located at 21 E Second St.; Dunkirk, NY 14048 to discuss this project in greater detail.
