The Dunkirk Local Development Corporation (DLDC)
MISSION
The mission of the Dunkirk Local Development Corporation (DLDC) is to ensure the long-term viability of the City of Dunkirk by creating opportunities for economic and community development. The DLDC seeks to foster economic development through the provision of low interest loans to Dunkirk businesses and industries as a means to attract new businesses; retain and grow established businesses; create and retain jobs; foster entrepreneurship and innovation; build industrial and commercial capacity; and increase the real property tax base.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
The DLDC has the capability of acquiring commercial buildings for redevelopment or demolition, giving out loans and grants, and other direct economic development incentives. Currently, the DLDC owns four pieces of property for development, and maintains 12 active small business loans. The DLDC is a yearly sub-recipient of the City’s Community Development Block Grant Program which provides funding for its Revolving Business Loan Program.
If your business is opening or reopening a location in the City of Dunkirk, the DLDC will arrange for a Grand Opening ribbon cutting ceremony and newspaper coverage.
The DLDC keeps an inventory of commercial and industrial property for sale and lease within the City of Dunkirk and has a working relationship with area realtors. If you are looking to relocate to Dunkirk, please check out our available property page. The DLDC will be more than happy to discuss your needs and do whatever they can to facilitate your relocation.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
The DLDC Festvial Committee hosts two annual festivals, Wreck & Roll in June and Beach Bash in August, as well as the Music on the Pier series which features a free band on the Dunkirk Pier every Thursday evening during the Summer months. The Committee is looking to expand its 2013 festival season with the addition of Picnic in the Point and the Dunkirk Heritage Festival.
