The City of Dunkirk Department of Public Works wishes to notify residents and motorists that E. Seventh Street between Monroe Street and Deer Street will be closed to all traffic beginning at 7:00 am on Friday, September 4. Also, Main Street between E. Sixth Street and E. Seventh Street will be paved and closed to all traffic.
Residents are asked to move their vehicles ahead of the 7:00 am start time.
Dunkirk Public Works wishes to notify city residents that rubbish pickup in the city may be delayed this week due to equipment breakdown. Residents are asked to leave rubbish out on the usual pickup date. Thank you for your patience.
The City of Dunkirk gives notice that it will be submitting its FY2014 CAPER to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for its FY2014 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. Copies of the CAPER are available for public review and comment in the City Clerk’s Office, Department of Development office, and online at www.dunkirktoday.com starting Thursday, June 11, 2015. Comments received by the City of Dunkirk’s Department of Development on or before Tuesday, June 30, 2015 will be forwarded to HUD.
The City Clerk’s office will be issuing Marriage License by appointment only from Tuesday, May 26th until Friday, June 5th.
There will be a final meeting for all teams and players interested in playing Co-ed softball this summer on Monday, May 4. The meeting will be held in the Recreation Department Conference Room; 338 Central Avenue, Suite 220 (Stearns Building) at 6:00 p.m.
All teams should be represented at this meeting. Scheduling, league fees and rosters will be finalized at this meeting. If you have any questions, please contact the Recreation Office at 366-9886.
The City of Dunkirk Public Works Department announces that brush pickup will begin on Monday in District A. District B will be picked up the week of May 11, District C will be picked up the week of May 18 and District D will be picked up the week of May 26.
Brush must be at the curb by 7:30 a.m. on the Monday of the respective collection week but no earlier than the previous Saturday. City crews will collect each area only once. Brush placed at the curb after the crews pass by will not be collected and will be ticketed as a violation of the City Code and property owners will be prosecuted. Brush should be bundled with string or twine no more than 4 feet long, diameter of no more than 18 inches and shall weigh no more than 65 pounds. Bundles should be placed between the sidewalk and curb but should not be placed near any posts, trees, water or sewer boxes, etc. which could be damaged during removal operations. Brush placed on city property other than the area fronting the respective residential property will be ticketed.
City residents may also drop brush at the Public Works facility on Lucas Avenue. Please refer to the 2015 Curbside Collection Schedule for further information.

Residents can now reserve pavilions at Point Gratiot at the Clerk’s Office. The City Clerk’s office is open 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
